JOB REQUIREMENTS

Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering field with emphasis on process physics and/or process chemistry. Other educational backgrounds may be considered if they are directly related to thermoelectric material production and processes

• Master’s degree in above mentioned majors or related majors is strongly preferred

Working Experience

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing industry, dealing with process development or process improvement activities

• Experience working with processing of metal, metal or ceramic powders in laboratory or industrial foundry setting is preferred.

Abilities

• Ability to work with minimum supervision and to manage assigned tasks and projects effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex materials and thermoelectric-related problems and research solutions in the public domain as well as creating/developing innovative solutions

• Ability to leverage knowledge and experience and apply it to solve problems resourcefully

• Effectively manages multiple priorities and projects

• Ability to teach and train others within work group

• Ability to work, teach and learn in cross-organizational teams

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

• Proficient computer skills, experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access database, Email, internet access and the ability to develop tools and/or special applications within these packages.

• Demonstrates a high standard of ethics, professionalism, competency, and quality

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Access to manufacturing methodologies and proprietary process information.

• Contact with supervisors and peers within department and from other departments.

• Directly contact with subject matter experts within  technical community.

• Interact with customer sales and account managers in handling external customer complaints.

• Identify and trace the root causes of failures for process/quality improvement.

• Deal with technological problems and suggest solutions to solve the quality issues.

AUTHORIZATION

• Reject parts or work orders if they don’t meet the workmanship standards or drawing requirements.

• Stop production line per quality threshold.

• Stop operators if they were found not to follow the documented procedures.

• Report quality high risk events to supervisors.

• Report unsafe behaviors to supervisors.

• Perform the controlling and managing duties as assigned by supervisors.

• Report to next managing levels when direct supervisor does the wrong thing without the correction..

JOB CONDITIONS

• Good working conditions. Occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat, etc. Some element present which makes conditions less desirable than usually found in an office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ingot Production Process Engineering 40%

• Ingot production processes periodically reviewed and documentations updated after discussions held and inputs obtained from other team members.

• Production process problems affecting the yields are identified and corrective action ideas presented to Department Manager as potential projects for process improvement with supporting data to identify root causes and developing corrective actions.

• Approved corrective action projects are performed with hands on approach, guided, conducted and managed to support product requirements and Department objectives.

• Critical process control parameters continuously monitored and updated periodically, and the results communicated to ingot production team members by means of postings in production area or group meeting or company presentations

• Process definitions and costs estimates, equipment requirements are studied with improvements to assist for capital improvement proposals either for equipment replacement or improvement.

• Production support is provided as needed to fill in potential gaps during the processing of work orders in the line

• Troubleshooting of equipment related issues handled timely either by providing assistance to maintenance technicians or working side by side to assist with repairs.

• Problem notes, audit findings and customer complaints are addressed timely to correct issues

• New and improved materials are worked into ingot production platform transitioning from R&D group and hands on assistance provided with the qualification process by collobarating with R&D team, as part of project team member.

  1. Business Operations 30%

• Address customer complaints and quality issues, and be actively involved in research and development effort of our thermoelectric material properties, processes, responsible from update of various ingot material properties related databases

• Participates in problem solving teams to assist other departments needs in relation to material related problems

• Conducts training of engineering community for materials and their properties based on existing and newly developed training materials

• Actively participated in departmental and inter departmental projects to learn and contribute other process platforms outside ingot manufacturing processes

• Projects results are documented in internal technical library in the form of technical reporting.

• Identifies Departmental needs for production related tooling and processes after consulting with DL operators/technicians.

• Personal time card and project updates are completed on time

• Conduct periodic training of operators for the processes and provide support for cross training activities

  1. Supervisory duties 20%

• Directly interact and supervise ingot production personal on daily basis to address production related problems to maintain and improve ingot manufacturing yields without comprise on quality and cost of products

• Daily Monitoring of direct labor charges against work orders in the time keeping system to ensure work hours captured correctly and repeat issues are addressed with individuals.

• Time cards of direct reports approved and maintained in Kronos for accurate information

• Performs mid-year and end of year performance assessment of direct reports and provide results and recommendations to Department Manager review and approvals.

• Resources are used judiciously to meet group objectives

• Contributes to annual budgeting/re-budgeting process with timeliness for the department

  1. Personal Development 5%

• Participates in and occasionally leads training opportunities, for Engineering Community as well as to learn other skills in relation to applications of thermoelectric materials.

• Follows literature in the field of Thermoelectric Material Research and prepare internal reports and presentations.

• Develops and maintains individual goals
