Job Description
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry with emphasis on Functional Materials Development and Processing Research or Production.
Experience
• 10+ years applicable experience in engineering/scientific role with internal and external report writing in English with Management experience.
• Typically requires 5+ years managerial/leadership experience.
• Experience working with thermoelectric material production is preferred.
• Strong knowledge and experience in problem solving and process improvement, using statistical analysis tools.
Special abilities
• Ability to work with little supervision and to manage assigned tasks and projects effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex materials and thermoelectric-related problems and research solutions in the public domain as well as creating/developing innovative solutions.
• Ability to leverage knowledge and experience and apply it to solve problems resourcefully.
• Effectively manages multiple priorities and projects.
• Ability to teach and train others within work group and other groups.
• Ability to work, teach and learn in cross-organizational teams.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient computer skills, experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Email, internet access and the ability to develop tools and/or special applications within these packages.
• Due to strict know-how and IP protection requirement, this position requires strict compliance with internal security requirements and restriction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Contact with others
• Contact with manager and peers within department and from other departments.
• Directly contact with subject matter experts within technical community.
• Interact with customer sales and account managers in handling external customer complaints.
• Interact with supplier quality engineers and procurement staffs in solving problems with incoming parts.
Errors
• Identify and trace the root causes of failures for process/quality improvement.
• Deal with technological problems and suggest solutions to solve the quality issues.

• Access to manufacturing methodologies and proprietary process information.
• Reject parts or work orders if they don’t meet the workmanship standards or drawing requirements.
• Stop production line per quality threshold.
• Report quality high risk events to supervisors.

• Report to next managing levels when direct supervisor does the wrong thing without the correction.
JOB CONDITIONS
Working condition
Good working conditions. Occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat, etc. Some element present which makes conditions less desirable than usually found in an office.
Mental/Visual Demands
Ability to lift 10kg of materials to move it around the factory floor and ability to reach around various production and research equipment to trouble shoot issues and perform quick calibration and maintenance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Process Sustaining Activities, and Technology Development – 60%
• Thermoelectric materials and related manufacturing projects are maintained, conceived, structured, proposed, and promoted that support ’s strategic objectives as identified by Thermal Solutions and the Corporation.
• Approved projects are guided, conducted and managed to support internal and external customer requirements aligned with Thermal Solution’s strategic objectives.
• Budgets and milestones are used to manage and communicate projects effectively local and global senior leadership.
• Innovative approaches are brainstormed, critiqued and implemented to overcome barriers to achieve project goals.
• Departmental operational budgets proposed and managed throughout the year.
• Identifies and qualifies alternative supply chain relevant to ingot production operations closely working with SQE and Supply Chain Procurement team members.
• New/improved materials are developed and improved toward production along with process definitions, procedures, cost estimates, equipment and infrastructure requirements.
• New/improved materials are advanced from R&D to production with business point of view, including assisting and actively participation with qualification processes.
• Participates in problem solving teams to lead and assist other departments in the areas of subject matter expertise.
• Participates in technical community activities, Failure Analysis, Internal Training and technical presentation. Helps shape internal technology roadmaps in subject matter expertise areas of material research and thermoelectric material production.

Business Operations – 20%
• Internally funded research projects are managed based on budgets and schedules for the associated tasks defined.
• Contributes to annual budgeting/re-budgeting process with timeliness in regards to ingot production operations.
• Resources are reviewed and assigned to be used judiciously to meet department objectives.
• Hire, periodically evaluate and promote operators and engineers for performance in ingot production operations.
• Develops and maintains individual, team and department goals, monitors throughout the year to ensure steady progress being made. Takes action to stay on the course for meeting the objectives.
• Demonstrates a high standard of ethics, professionalism, competency, and quality.
• Participates internal audit activities to support organizational effectiveness as lead auditor.
• Lead ingot engineers, Technician team for equipment and facility problem solving and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure that equipment is properly OM and record, and have effective spare part to support machine PM and trouble shooting.

Time Management, Record Keeping and Identification of Opportunities – 15%
• Identifies Departmental needs to create new projects for materials and process development ideas after interacting with operators/technicians/engineers throughout company.
• Projects results are documented in internal technical library in the form of technical reporting.
• Time card completed daily and correctly for the activities and weekly project updates are completed on time prior to weekly meeting.
• Conduct periodic training of technicians/operators for the processes and provide support for cross training activities.
• DL activities on time cards monitored and approved timely fashion and corrections to error with feedback to operators performed.

Personal Development – 5%
• Participates in and leads training opportunities in the subject matter expertise areas as well as learn other skills in relation thermoelectric materials production support.
• Follows literature in the field of processing and development of thermoelectric materials and semiconductor materials to prepare internal reports, presentations and internal research activities.
• Attends external conferences, workshops, etc. to enhance knowledge and understanding in thermoelectric materials technology and related fields.
