Production Manager

Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and adherence to safety and cost standards. This role involves managing production teams, optimizing workflows, and ensuring that production targets are met on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

• Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand and business objectives
• Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed
• Ensure optimal utilization of resources (labor, materials, equipment)

2. Team Leadership

• Supervise and support production staff, including supervisors and operators
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching/training
• Foster a positive, safe, and productive work environment

3. Quality Control

• Ensure production meets company and industry quality standards
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to address defects and implement improvements
• Monitor KPIs such as yield, scrap, and rework rates

4. Process Improvement

• Identify inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize processes
• Lead or participate in improvement projects

5. Health & Safety Compliance

• Ensure adherence to workplace safety regulations and company policies
• Conduct safety audits and training sessions
• Promote a culture of safety throughout the production team

6. Inventory & Resource Management

• Coordinate with supply chain to ensure availability of raw materials
• Manage inventory levels to minimize shortages or excess
• Oversee equipment maintenance and downtime reduction

7. Budget & Cost Control

• Monitor production costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure operations stay within budget
• Analyze financial performance related to production

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in production/manufacturing roles
• Previous supervisory or managerial experience preferred
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is an advantage

Work Environment

• Typically based in a manufacturing or industrial setting
• May require shift work, overtime, or weekend coverage depending on production demands
