·Has responsibility for ensuring that materials supply equals demand, optimizing overall cost of Purchasing, supporting the business development effort with current and potential customers, and development / implementation of purchasing strategies.
·Associated Job Duties
-Has responsibility for Plant-wide purchasing activities.
-Develops and implements new purchasing strategies per unique customer requirements.
-Has responsibility for overall development of supplier relations and performance monitoring
-Reviews and authorizes Terms and Conditions.
-Defines and monitors key metrics such as inventory turns.
-Has responsibility for ensuring that materials supply equals demand, ptimizing overall cost of Purchasing
-Ensures Operation’s execution to Supply Chain strategies
-Supports the development of Supply Chain strategies and systems
-Indoctrinates the importance of having materials supply equal demand.
-Ensures that Materials Planners participate in determining MPS loading to create a realistic commitment that best supports customer needs.
-Maintains a disciplined process to ensure materials availability to support production activities per the Master Production Schedule without creating materials liability for company
-Disconnects between materials supply and requirements such as shortages, non-conformance, high stocks, and excess/obsolete materials are continuously monitored and eliminated
-Drives down overall cost of materials including component pricing, freight expenses, administration expenses, materials liability, and high stock.
-Ensures that MPV is optimized.
-Assures that component purchase price should be projected to accurately reflect the inventory value for the financial period in Standard Costing process.
-Ensures that quoted cost to the customer is competitive yet maximizes the amount of favorable Materials Price Variance (MPV).
-Ensures all purchase orders are placed with pricing and terms & conditions that are negotiated and agreed to by Commodity Managers and Buyers
-Ensures that Operation’s supply base contributes to success of the Operation and that suppliers are selected based on overall cost effectiveness and their ability to meet company’s requirements.
-Monitors, tracks, and provides feedback on suppliers’ performance on overall cost, delivery, and quality
-Reports to Site Materials Manager
·Bachelor\'s Degree Required in Materials Logistics Management, Business Administration or equivalent discipline.
·At least 5 years experience with at least 2 years in supervisory role.
·APICS, NAPM, or CPM certifications preferred.
