Purpose of the Job
- Providing timely financial reports as
well as financial support services required by management / client, ensuring
established accounting policies and procedures are followed in accordance with
International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Overseeing and directing
organizational accounting functions and procedures, including developing and
implementing internal controls and accounting operations, providing input on
the adoption or utilization of effective accounting systems, handling various
regulatory or tax filings and advising on financial and accounting matters.
- Responsible for hiring, training and supervising of other accounting
personnel as well as the smooth operation of the accounting department.
Key Activities / Accountability
- General ledger and
month-end close, financial statement preparation and reporting.
- Ensures Accounting
Department calendar deadlines are met.
- Review general ledger
account reconciliations
- Reviews financial
statements, including month end and year end closing
- Reviews and approves
recoverable expense billings and reconciliations
- Reviews and approves
monthly bank reconciliations
- Reviews monthly
funding requests
- Reviews and approves
monthly journal entries
- Internal Control
(SOX) activities, review accuracy of testing and completeness of documentation.
- Responsible for
optimal Cash management.
- Maintain contract
information.
- Coordinate audit
process (group, local) with external auditors.
- Government and
statutory reporting, such as annual accounts, VAT and Income Tax Filing and
payroll information.
- Establishes and
maintains open communication and interaction with all commercial, operational
and other management staff in case of changes of processes as well as specific
requests and issues.
- Supervise
finance/accounting staff developing annual objectives, succession planning and
cross training (Performance Management System).
- Hires , trains,
mentors, supervises motivates and leads staff members into continuous
improvement
- Responsible for
organizing and delegating jobs and activities
- Is responsible for
making an annual plan for the accounting department, proposing and keeping up
to the departmental budget as well as realizing targets and objectives in the
plan.
- Responsible for
reaching an optimal number for the DSO (days sales outstanding) for national as
well as foreign clients.
- Participates in projects
relevant for the processes in the accounting department.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree (B.A./B.S.) from four year college or
university in Accounting/Finance. MBA or CPA preferred
Experience and Knowledge
- 5-15 years experience
in similar roles
- Expertise in advanced
finance and accounting practices (compiling, interpreting and/or providing
consultation on financial and accounting related considerations for management
analysis and decision making).
- Ability to understand
and apply fundamental accounting and bookkeeping principles and techniques, and
to accurately prepare and analyze most financial records, reports and
statements.
- Ability to understand
and interpret information common to financial statements and balance sheets,
administer and oversee the financial procedures and policies of an
organization.
- Ability to apply knowledge of human resource functions
(recruiting and employment issues, employment testing, compensation and
benefits, performance management, training and development).
