Biomedical Manager

 

Duties:

  • Responsible for  assuring the  optimal operation of  all  biomedical devices by  planning preventive maintenance activities for  hospital existing biomedical equiiment  or  repair measures as there are machine failures.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of the Biomedical Department within the framework of existing policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Function as primary responsible contact with the Biomedical Department and organize meetings with managers / heads of other departments to discuss equipment issues.
  • Work closely with doctors in order to counsel, propose and produce assessment for Board of Directors in refurnishing hospital devices and equipment
  • Establish and promote training for manpower of Biomedical Department, set up plans for human recruiting and training to promptly adapt the existing operation frequency of hospital as well as f?4ure extension.
  • Maintain documentation for all activities of Biomedical Department, including documentation of service histories on all biomedical equipment, documents describing policies, standards for use, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment, etc.
  • Produce, review and make assessments of various reports related to work completion, unfinished work, preventive maintenance completion rates, and repeat equipment failaires, assure accurate database entry.
  • Oversees all recalls on medical equipment including management of vendors’ response /specflc actions to ensure appropriate response to all necessary service requests.
  • Conduct effective investigation of events and medical device failures. Determines corrective measures for repeated failures by working with staff and vendors.
  • Supervise the daily operations of the biomedical technical team and ensure strict compliance with product quality assurance, equipment and procedural standards as well as engineering specifications.
  • Audit work completed by in-house staff and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Responsible for Inventory control, participate in the Bi-annual inventory of equipment.
  • Regularly practices careful, efficient use of Hospital resources and energy.
  • Ensure all resources are available to staff members as needed to allow them to perform maintenance and repair of medical equipment and systems as assigned.
  • Assure  the  working  area  is  clean  and  orderly,  providing  a  safe  environment  for biomedical personnel.
  • Function as a main contact point of response and responsibility. This may include providing instruction as to the safe and proper use of medical equipment or acting as a technical counselor to assigned staff
  • Monitor monthly expenditures and work with doctors and management board in recommending how best to control equipment services’ related costs.
  • Recommend equipment renovation, refurbishment, replacement, or re-deployment based on equipment age, failure rate, cost of service, and overall ability to support equipment‘s effective usage.
  • Work with relevant departments to perform pre-purchase evaluations of medical equipment.
  • Develop work schedules for all biomedical staff and make adjustments as needed to accommodate changing workloads.
  • Evaluate staff productivity, efficiency, and other specfIc   work quality performance indices.
  • Identify training needs for biomedical personnel and provide training to biomedical technicians on all aspects of their job description.
  • Determines the present and future needs of the Biomedical Department in terms of staff facility and equipment.
  • Participate in interviewing potential candidates for biomedical positions and contribute to making hiring decisions.
  • Complete related assignments and other projects as required.
  • Will be expected to work overtime with short notice.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Engineering/Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent)
  • At least 3 years of Supervisory / Managerial experience in Biomedical Engineering, preferably in a medical setting (or equivalent)
  • A broad knowledge of various hospital medical equipment and of electricity, electronics, electro-mechanical, etc. both in theory and practices.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation, reports, and written correspondence.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership skills and ability to promote team work.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills, especially in organizing work flow and prioritizing
